LV1 Gaming features Chase Bethea being Celebrated for U.K. Black History Month
October 30, 2024I’m so grateful to share that LV1 Gaming has written an incredible feature celebrating my recognition in this year’s U.K. Black History Month calendar! It’s an honour to see my odyssey in the video game industry spotlighted by a platform that values diverse voices and perspectives in gaming. I’m super thankful to LV1 Gaming for helping share my story with their audience and beyond.
The LV1 Gaming article delves into the significance of being celebrated during U.K. Black History Month and highlights my 13-year odyssey in video games as a video game composer. From my early career to recent achievements, including the U.K. Black History Month calendar feature, LV1 Gaming captures the passion and dedication it took to reach this milestone. This journey has always been about pushing the boundaries in game music while uplifting diversity and representation in our industry.
This special moment feels something like my birthday. As I reflect about who is on this calendar it’s not many in the world that achieve this. The hard work is definitely paying off and this mean something super special. Video game music is not valued as it should be and I have loved it since I’ve been a child.
15 years ago I decided to go all into it and here I am today being celebrated and acknowledged on a calendar for U.K. Black History Month that has absolute legends. Rachel Shapey sought me out and added me. I didn’t have to ask. It’s proof that if you’re consistent something great can betide. I grew up listening to video game music on the Game Boy, Sega Genesis and PlayStation and video game composers such as Alberto Gonzalez, Kenji Ito and Nathan Mcree. I know that most people will not understand the magnitude this truly means and that’s okay. They don’t have to. I understand. I made history by being the first video game composer on the calendar and I’ll make more history as I continue.
Being recognized on platforms like LV1 Gaming and in the U.K. Black History Month calendar is crucial not only for me but for all underrepresented voices in the gaming industry. It serves as a reminder of the growing inclusivity in gaming and the importance of recognizing diverse contributions to our field. I encourage everyone to check out LV1 Gaming’s article to learn more. Let’s continue to support platforms that amplify diverse voices in gaming!
I hope this feature inspires the next generation of diverse game composers, producers, and creatives to pursue their passions.
