IGDA Highlights Chase Bethea for Black History Month

February 21, 2021

I am most thankful to be highlighted recently by IGDA for Black History Month. It’s certainly a honor.

The International Game Developers Association was founded in 1994 and is a nonprofit professional association, currently headed by Renee Gittins, whose stated mission is to “support and empower game developers around the world in achieving fulfilling and sustainable careers.” Since this is a worldwide organization, it feels very nice to be recognized.

Black History Month is special. Ever since a child, I grew up learning about the obstacles and challenges minority Americans have faced through countless times of adversity. Nonetheless, I read about “the firsts” and the many innovators that helped shape the world I came into. This highlight signifies some part of history that I have contributed to as a video game composer in the video game industry that can not be taken away.

Thank you IGDA for the spotlight during this iconic month!
